These comments solved my “no sound on Mac” problem
usually don’t run into usb speakers, but what the heck. I got these used, and had remembered listening to them in the Apple showroom…

Best looking speakers also provide excellent sound.
I have had these speakers for 4 years and there have been no regrets. Great sound, even better looks – you will want to keep the subwoofer on the desk.

Articulate and Balanced
I listen to quite a lot of music. It’s rare for me to be home and at the computer without some music playing, at least in the background. I like good speakers.

Harman Kardon SoundSticks USB
I have had these sexy sticks since 2001. They have partnerd both PC and Macs. They are simply a classic design and the sound is excellent for a desktop setting.

THEY HAVE OTHER USES
Forget the computer, I plug my Ipod Nano into these and they work fantastic.
My best Christmas present by far.

Sub Woofer Problems
After only a couple of months of light use, the sub woofer started making loud thumping sounds and the system stoped working.

Better than my stereo.
I have more than one set of computer speakers. Do you understand how I would cry if something happened to these? I love them like I love my favorite purse.

TOO TOO COOL
Not only are these the most beautiful speakers ever designed they sound good enough that I retired my venerable Speakerlab’s and just listen to my Cube with iTunes as a jukebox.
